The Groove
------------------

Wind blew back golden blonde hair. He reached up to wipe it back down over pale skin, one eye shut against the wind as he did. The other was open, surveying the bleachers set up around a grassy clearing. It was the size of at least two football fields. He'd arrived early with his family, just to make sure it all went flawless.
He didn't know who in his family would be competing in this tourney, but he hoped that a certain individual would.

Progressing slowly through the crowds of people he thought to himself how closely this place resembled a busy theme park. Indeed, parents with children were about, and groups of teenagers lingered on corners. Stands of food, amusement, and other such things were littered around the bleacher area carelessly.
Only one place mattered to him, and that was the long tables arranged in a "U" shape under a large white tent. A man and a woman sat at the table where the line began. Standing behind all the people he waited. He felt odd, seeing everyone around him standing there in official clothes. Garments representing where there all were from. One was in a militia uniform. Actually, a small group of people near the beginning of the line all were wearing Terra Military uniforms. He leaned slightly, counting them all up. Roughly six, give or take. It was hard to see with everyone in front of him.
Some people were hard to identify. One clearly non-Terran man was directly in front of him. He smelt like stone and fires you'd find in Hell. Only not quite as heavy a scent. Probably from the "Fiar" place. He'd heard that lots of wild people came from there, a nature-based planet. The line was growing shorter, and with it, him closer. At the table left and right of the man and woman were more people. Two at each table. The ones at the sides had chairs on both side, and after people got by the first two they went to either side and sat down. It didn't make much sense to him, but he shrugged it off.
This was to register for the competition. A large amusement-driven tourney where fighters, for whatever reason, came to fight other people from other places. There was no real prize except maybe a trophy of some sort. He hadn't read much on the reward.
But his reason for being there was clear and firm. Though the whole point of the thing was to amuse the people that flocked from far and wide to simply watch, his father had made it clear.
If he wanted to obtain a rank in hell, he had to get far in this tourney. Several of his father's own guards were going to be here, and he knew they would go to the final rounds without trouble.

"Name, please?" The woman said merrily when he reached the table.
"Gabriel Takata." he said calmly, looking down at her. She had a long sheet of information before her, a pen in hand. This looked like it would take a while.

A small wind blew, and his grey tank top blew up, showing part of his stomach. He swatted it down smoothly, noticing the woman staring at the skin the upturned shirt showed of with a red face. He cleared his throat, glad he'd worn loose jeans instead of the other options in his closet. Heaven knows how she would have reacted to some of his other clothes.
"Ahh, well...um... Middle name as well please."
"Oh, sorry. Gabriel Christopher Takata." he said, putting more of a touch in his words on his middle name.

"It's fine. Now, if you could please take this," she held out the piece of paper. He took in as easily as she handed it out. "And go over there, they'll fill the rest out for you."
  "Thank you, ma'am."

He nodded, and she looked like she had heat stroke as he walked away. The duffel bag over his shoulder was making a red mark on his skin. It was uncomfortable, and he shifted to move it. Unfortunately, someone was right behind him when he did, making his elbow hit someone right in the chest.
They didn't make a noise, but he turned anyway, Prince-like charm going to play. "Oh, i'm so sorry, are you alr-iiiight..." he stopped, staring up blankly at a very familiar face. The man was easily the tallest there. And the biggest. He was defiantly the "muscular type" as he stood with no shirt on and only a distinctly Hellion style of pants.
"What are you doing here, droopie?" the large one laughed. The blonde boy snarled, not appreciating the pet name. "Registering, what else." he sighed, heading on the where two women sat expectantly at the table. He seated himself effortlessly in the chair, while the buff one moved the chair away, instead sitting in the floor lazily and handing his woman the paper.
"Ah, Mister Surge Amadalis, please just answer some questions and you can go get your ID for participating."

"Um, sir?"
"Oh! Sorry, miss." He turned his attention to the woman across the table, feeling very embarrassed that, of all things, he'd been staring at one of the eight Demon Guards to the King of Hell. Smiling ruefully he held out the paper for her. She took it with a swoon and smiled dope fully back at him.

"Well sir, please just answer as truthfully as you can to these questions. When we're done just go there," she paused to gesture to a booth outside the white tent. "And you can give him the ticket i'll give you for your fighter ID.
"Ahh, thank you." he said politely, staring off to where she motioned blankly before turning back, smiling at her like a high school boy.

"Your name is Gabriel Christopher Takata?"
   "Yes, ma'am."
"Eye and Hair Colors?"
   "Blue eyes, blonde hair."
"Skin Type?"
   "Uh.....white?"
She nodded, accepting that as an answer. "Now, have you ever done any illegal drugs?"
"Yes." The man beside him stiffened slightly while talking to his own woman. The woman asking Gabriel questions paused nervously, then hurried with the next question.

"Do you currently do drugs?"
"No." She crossed things off, as if certain answers lead to other questions to ask.
"When was the last time you used any illegal drugs?"
"Hmm....abouuut..." he had to pause and count on his fingers. "About eleven years give or take?"

"Oh." she brightened at that, obviously considering some sort of romantic move towards him.
"Well, have you ever drunken any alcoholic beverages?"
      "Yes."
"Do you still drink?"
      "Occasionally."
"When was your last drink?"
"Mmm...two months ago. One of my brothers had a bachelor party."
"Oh, congratulations to him." she looked at Gabriel's hands for a ring. Finding none, she smiled while he internally sighed, noticing all of her small gestures and motions.

"Have you ever smoked a cigarette of cigar?"
      "Yes, cigarette."
"Do you still smoke, and when was your last?"
"Yes, three hours ago." the man beside him sighed, apparently disapproving of this.

"Alright, now a few more basic things. Age, Height, and Weight."
"Age in Human or Species?" Odd as it was, on Terra this question was common, seeing how there were at least Five basic species known to common Terrans.
    "Um, both." she said hesitantly.

"Twenty-three in human, nearly One Hundred and six in Angel. I'm six-eight, and one hundred and thirty pounds even."

"Oh, you're an angel? That's nice.~" she said it in a way implying that "nice" was not what she thought it was. Something like "sexy" or "do-able" was better in it's place. He smiled casually, forcing it out and screaming to himself over how he hated woman around here.

"Well, next question, hehee.~ Um...hmm, let's see...." she ran a finger down the list, and he saw it stop nearly halfway down.
"Ahh. Ok, what's your race, parents' race, and place of origin?

He sighed, it was starting to bother him hos personal this thing was getting. He caught himself though, making the tired sighed come out at an admiring one toward the woman. He regretted it, but knew no other option at the time to not offend her.

"I'm an angel. My mother is an angel, my father a demon. I was born in Heaven directly."
She smiled like she knew something. Naturally, it was obvious only very high up people were born directly in heaven. He groaned in his mind at having a stalker already.

"Ah, ok, Your reason for entering the tourney and any family already entered that you know of. To reduce family fights."

"I'm entering to settle a deal with my father. And he," the angel paused to throw a thumb casually at the bulky one beside him. "Is the closest one to family that i'm aware has entered this thing. Anyone with the last names "Takata" or "Amadalis" will be related to me somehow."

She nodded, flashing a forced smile to the man as he looked over at her.

"Ok, last few questions. These are just...odd. Your "Element", your birthday, oh, that's normal. And what style you prefer...?"

Naturally, a human ditz like her wouldn't understand those. He scolded himself, thinking of a woman like that was disrespectful.

"Light or Air, January 30th 1986, Savate or Mixed."

"Ok then, that's all!~" she stood, handing him a small grey and red ticket.  He smiled like royalty and stood, taking it swiftly. She blushed and waved at him. "Good Luck, Gabriel!~" she said girlishly. He nodded, thanking her and heading off without a word to the booth she'd motioned to before.

As soon as he turned where she could not see his heavenly smile turned immediantly to a dark and deadly scowl. Part of his was screaming for her to die.

This is part One
Part Two = [link]

So yeah. This is a little thing I felt like starting. Every part will be named after a different song by "Muse."

This one is The Groove by Muse.
It's following Gabriel, my favorite character from the book AtD that :iconchusaborashi: and I are working on. We already have the prologue done! ^^;

Anyways, this plot has nothing to do with the book. It's kind of like an AU but it's still the same worlds.

Random Info
-----------------

The worlds

Aros - A Planet that was very advanced. They were big on their military and intelligence. Very prestigious schools and military. They were close with the planet Terra until the Elemental War, in which their planet exploded. Now a days Arosian people are very rare. There's still a prejudice against them to this day. Some people see them as high-class people, who are smarter and stronger than Terrans. Others see them as trash.

Terra - More or less Earth with better technology. The planet is united like one giant country, where instead of a president is a King. They're ruled by a giant Military. The people there are relatively stupid though, and can be best summarized as "shoot now ask later" people that have no respect for nature. The entire planet is mostly city-based, with enough woods and such to balance their ecosystem out.

Fiar - Terra's opposite. It has no city, or electricity above ground. Though underground an advance colony of people live and serve as a secret militia. Above ground they live off the earth, and almost every where is nature. There's a giant forest, huge-ass ocean, and even a large area of fiery....fire. They have a large variety of species including dragons and wildlife-based animal-demons.

The other places used as planet-esc locations are Heaven and Hell. People from there (Pure angels and pure demons) are like super-duper strong royalty and are extremely revered.

this was a bit confusing at first--i take it that humans know there's more than one species?

but i do like the monologue.
the conversations were interesting.
i look forwards to reading more of it :)

Thanks. ^^
And a few do. It's a general rule on Terra they can't be directly told there are other species, they have to find out for themselves.
